At MWC 2025, Samsung Display unveiled its latest innovation: the “Flexible Briefcase,” a foldable laptop concept that also serves as an elegant briefcase. This unique device has an 18.1-inch QD-OLED display with a QHD+ resolution of 2,000 x 2,664 pixels and a pixel density of 184 PPI.
The Flexible Briefcase is notable for its unconventional design, which incorporates a briefcase-style casing featuring two handles that converge at the center when the device is closed. Additionally, the briefcase is designed with integrated power and volume buttons, seamlessly combining practicality with aesthetic appeal.
Flexible Briefcase Laptop Specifications
When fully extended, the Flexible Briefcase features an 18.1-inch QD-OLED display. The prototype is designed with a 4.5R folding radius, which is said to guarantee the foldable display’s dependable functionality. With a QHD+ resolution and 184 PPI pixel density, the OLED display delivers clear and vibrant images, although it is slightly lower than the 212 PPI panel of the Galaxy Book4 Ultra.
Even with this slight reduction in pixel density, the expansive screen size and innovative folding design contribute to its uniqueness. This prototype has the potential to be an attractive option for creators, provided it is launched as a consumer product.
We have observed several innovative concept laptops from various brands, including Lenovo. One notable example features a solar panel capable of providing one hour of video playback after just twenty minutes of charging in direct sunlight. Further details about this device can be found here.
However, it is important to note that these are merely prototypes, and there is no assurance that these concepts will be available to consumers soon. For instance, Samsung has been developing a foldable laptop concept for an extended period. The company secured a patent for a design in 2022, which allows the laptop to fold twice, and has showcased a concept known as Flex Note, resembling a Flexible Briefcase. The current prototype appears promising, and we remain hopeful that it will eventually be released as a consumer product.
