All of Samsung’s Foldable Concept Devices Showcased at MWC 2025

At MWC 2025, Samsung introduced a range of groundbreaking foldable concepts featuring multiple designs that incorporate two hinges. Among these, the Asymmetric Flip stands out with its taller aspect ratio, resembling the Flip phones when fully opened. Additionally, the lineup includes the wider Flex S, Flex G, and the significantly larger Flex Note. Another notable innovation is the Slidable Solo, which boasts a rollable display.

Samsung has been developing these concepts for several years, and we have previously encountered designs for inward-folding, outward-folding, and rollable devices. However, the Asymmetric Flip represents the latest and most distinctive design in their portfolio.

The Asymmetric Flip

The tri-fold asymmetric smartphone incorporates two folding hinges, contrasting with the single hinge typically seen in conventional foldable devices. When the device is folded, a small segment of the screen remains visible, which may show information such as the time, date, or notifications, akin to an Always-on Display feature. Nevertheless, the design is distinctive, as the upper and lower parts of the screen fold in an uneven manner, resulting in an asymmetrical look.

The visible section of the screen has the potential to offer quick access to notifications, date, and time; however, its practical effectiveness remains to be evaluated.

Samsung Flex S, Flex G, Flex Note, and Slidable Solo

All of these models were showcased in two distinct sizes: one resembling a large tablet that can be reduced to a more compact form (though it remains somewhat bulky for a standard pocket), accompanied by a smaller variant that resembles a typical foldable device suitable for pocket storage.

The Flex S features a folding design akin to the Huawei Mate XT, with one-third of the display remaining visible to the outside when folded. For those who may have concerns regarding the soft display, it is noteworthy that both hinges of the Flex G fold inward. The images provide a clearer understanding of the folding mechanism. The larger versions of both the outward and inward folding devices boast a display size of 12.4 inches.

The rollable display resembles a portable tablet, transitioning between a taller aspect ratio (similar to the Z Fold 6) and a wider format. Additionally, there is a substantial tablet known as the Flex Note, which features an impressive 17-inch display and folds similarly to a laptop.

We have previously reported on the “Flexible Briefcase,” which shares similarities with the Flex Note in terms of its folding mechanism.

Will you be able to buy one of these any time soon?

All of these devices are currently in their prototype stages. Although there has been no announcement regarding Samsung’s plans to mass-produce these concepts for consumers, the company has been developing them for several years. The Flex S and Flex G models are certainly feasible for mass production.
