In 2025, A total of 1.9 million digital payments were processed as part of the Ramadan Relief Package, representing a significant advancement in Pakistan’s goal of becoming a digital nation.
This year’s Ramadan Relief Package introduced a digital wallet system, facilitating a straightforward and accessible method for distributing funds to eligible recipients throughout Pakistan, including regions like Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. During a high-level meeting focused on the package, the Prime Minister was informed that 951,191 digital wallets had been effectively used to ensure a transparent and efficient distribution of funds.
One of the package’s standout features was its commitment to inclusivity, with 823,653 women and 2,541 individuals with disabilities utilizing digital wallets to access their funds. Additionally, an extensive awareness campaign reached a wide audience, featuring 6.2 million robocalls, 178,700 outbound calls, and 6.1 million SMS messages sent by banks and partner organizations to keep the public informed.
The Prime Minister expressed his approval of the distribution process’s transparency and emphasized that any complaints received during the implementation of the package should be taken into account for future relief initiatives. He also stressed the importance of applying this successful model to other government programs to improve their efficiency and transparency.
The meeting included key ministers such as Ahsan Iqbal, Federal Minister for Planning; Atta Tarar, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting; Rana Tanveer Hussain, Federal Minister for National Food Security; Ahmad Khan Cheema, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs; Shiza Fatima, Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication; along with other senior officials.
The Prime Minister expressed gratitude to all organizations involved, including the State Bank of Pakistan, BISP, PTA, NADRA, and private sector partners, for their contributions to ensuring a seamless process and an effective rollout of the relief package.
