The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max are expected to introduce the first significant design change to the Pro series in nearly seven years. Initial renders indicate a redesigned camera module that spans from edge to edge, along with a two-tone finish on the back. Even the dummy models of the upcoming iPhones showcase this new camera arrangement.
However, while the camera design may remain, the proposed two-tone finish might not be included. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that Apple currently has no intention of implementing a dual-tone design for the back.
No Dual-Tone Design for iPhone 17 Pro
In his latest Power On newsletter, Gurman mentions that the online renders depicting the 17 Pro with a dark camera block on a silver body are “not an accurate representation of what’s to come.” He further states that the “iPhone 17 Pro won’t feature a two-toned back,” and instead, the camera module will blend with the rest of the back panel.
Nonetheless, the camera layout itself appears likely to remain unchanged. Gurman did not directly address the design alteration, which could imply that Apple’s unique module design is set for next year’s Pro iPhones.

In addition to design changes, Apple may be gearing up for a significant shift in its lineup. The iPhone 17 Plus might be replaced by a new model called the iPhone 17 Air, which will focus on being slimmer rather than offering top-tier specifications.
Apple is still expected to unveil a total of four models, all of which will include a new camera control button on the right side.
These are preliminary leaks, and since the iPhone 17 lineup is not expected until September, there is ample time for changes to occur. We’ll keep you updated if any new information arises.
