WhatsApp has launched a new feature called Advanced Chat Privacy. It is designed to give users more control over their messages in private and group chats. This feature was leaked earlier this month but is now live. It helps limit how messages and media can be shared or used outside of the app.
What Advanced Chat Privacy Does
When activated, Advanced Chat Privacy stops others from exporting the chat. It also prevents automatic media downloads and restricts the use of messages in WhatsApp’s AI features. While it doesn’t block screenshots, it still offers useful limits to help protect sensitive conversations.

WhatsApp says this feature works well in group chats where not everyone knows each other. People talking about health issues or community plans might want extra privacy. With Advanced Chat Privacy, users can better control what happens to their messages after they send them.
How to Turn On Advanced Chat Privacy
To turn on this feature, open any chat and tap on the chat name at the top. Find the Advanced Chat Privacy section and enable it for that chat. It doesn’t apply to all chats automatically; you must turn it on for each one separately.
This is just the first version. WhatsApp plans to improve Advanced Chat Privacy over time. Future updates may include more options to boost privacy, but details about these are not yet available.
