Samsung plans to make its foldable phones lighter and thinner. Titanium might be a key part of this upgrade. Rumors say the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and a new tri-fold phone could both include titanium pieces. This could help Samsung stay competitive with sleeker foldables from Chinese brands.
Why titanium instead of carbon fiber?
Samsung has used titanium before in the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, which had a titanium backplate. This time, it’s said that the same lightweight, strong material will be used for the back of both the Z Fold 7 and the tri-fold device. The Galaxy S25 Ultra, Samsung’s latest flagship, uses titanium in its frame.

There are reports that Samsung might skip the S Pen digitizer to make the device thinner. Removing this part could make the phone slimmer and more like other compact models. But Samsung isn’t dropping stylus support completely. It’s working on a new OLED screen that works with a stylus without needing a built-in digitizer. This approach is similar to Apple’s Pencil system. The tech is still in development, and it’s unclear when it will arrive in a Galaxy foldable.
It will be interesting to see how much the titanium changes the phone’s size and price. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 may launch in early July. Leaked images or online listings could appear before the official release. Keep an eye out for updates.
