Before an audience that included the Vice President of the United States, JD Vance, Eric Trump, and Donald Trump Jr., Bilal Bin Saqib, Pakistan’s Minister for Crypto and Blockchain and CEO of the Pakistan Crypto Council, delivered a strong keynote at Bitcoin Vegas 2025. During his speech, he revealed Pakistan’s first government-backed Strategic Bitcoin Reserve. This marked a new chapter for Pakistan on the world stage and signaled a major shift in how the country is seen globally.
It wasn’t just a policy announcement; it was a rebranding. Bilal’s message was clear: Pakistan is no longer defined by its troubled past. Instead, it is becoming a center for digital growth driven by young people, shaped by necessity, and led by new tech leaders. Bilal described the vision:
I’m not just here as a minister, I’m here as the voice of a generation — a generation that is online, on-chain, and unstoppable.
At only 34 years old, Bilal Bin Saqib has become one of the main voices shaping a new Pakistan. The country has more than 40 million crypto wallets, a median age of 23, and a large, active community of freelancers. Unlike others who only see potential, Bilal is turning talk into action, making bold moves that bring Pakistan to the global crypto scene.
In his speech, Bilal announced plans to create a national Bitcoin wallet. The government will hold digital assets not to trade or speculate on but as a sovereign reserve. This shows Pakistan’s long-term support for decentralized finance. He also thanked President Donald Trump for helping to ease tensions with India and for supporting the adoption of cryptocurrency. Additionally, he revealed that Pakistan has set aside 2,000 megawatts of extra electricity in the first phase for Bitcoin mining and AI data centers. This move is open to miners, tech companies, and clean energy partners from around the world.
To maintain this momentum, Bilal is leading efforts to establish the Pakistan Digital Assets Authority (PDAA). This new agency will set rules, protect investors, and help build a clear framework for digital finance in the future. Bilal stated:
Both Pakistan and Bitcoin have suffered from bad PR, but if you look past the headlines, you’ll see something else: talent, resilience, and vision.
His speech was not only a historic moment for Pakistan but also a call to global builders:
If you’re building something real — come build it in Pakistan. Come build wallets for the unbanked. Come tokenize land. Come scale your mission with our youth and our unstoppable grit.
As global focus turned to Las Vegas, Bilal Bin Saqib shared more than a speech. He offered a plan for how emerging markets can use Web3. His message shows Pakistan is a young, tech-focused country that wants to lead and succeed.
