Here is Everything New on iOS 26

Apple has announced iOS 26, marking its biggest mobile software update in years. Moving away from the usual iOS 18, this version brings a new look, smarter AI features, and improvements across core apps. The update will be available to the public in fall 2025 after initial testing with developers and beta users.

Liquid Glass: A Unified Visual Identity

The new look, called Liquid Glass, shows a fresh style for Apple. Inspired by VisionOS from the Apple Vision Pro, the interface has glass-like surfaces and layered effects. The Lock Screen now adjusts its clock and notifications automatically, based on things like background photos and incoming alerts.

Wallpaper choices include spatial images that give a faint 3D feel. Popular apps like Camera and Photos now feature rounded panels and gesture controls, making navigation easier. The Photos app can also turn regular images into 3D memories that can be viewed in AR with the Vision Pro.

On-Device Intelligence and Search Enhancements

Apple has enhanced its Visual Intelligence tools to allow searches based on objects in screenshots. You can highlight any part of a photo and search for related info across apps and browsers. It can also extract details from images or messages to help fill your calendar.

The translation feature has been revamped. Live Translation now works across Phone, FaceTime, and Messages, providing captions and translating speech in real time during calls.

Communication Features and Security Controls

The Phone app gets a new Call Screening feature. Unknown callers are asked to say who they are before the phone rings. Voicemail summaries help users decide which calls to listen to. A new Hold Assist feature alerts when automated systems connect to a real person.

Messages now let you personalize by adding AI-created backgrounds. Group tools include polls and easier money transfers using Apple Cash. A spam filter on your device helps block and sort unwanted messages.

Gaming and Car Interface Updates

Apple also launched a new Games app. It combines Arcade titles, multiplayer invites, achievements, and your installed games in one place. The app has tabs for playing together, your library, and upcoming events.

CarPlay gets a redesign in line with the Liquid Glass look. The new CarPlay Ultra adds support for multiple screens in compatible cars. Drivers can control climate, media, and maps directly from the system.

Service Improvements Across Apps

Apple Music now shows animated album art, offers real-time lyrics, and includes smooth song transitions with AutoMix. Users can also save favorite artists and albums more easily.

Maps now predict routes based on your past trips. The Wallet app includes in-terminal navigation and the ability to share boarding passes. Flight info updates live and can be sent to contacts.

Availability and Rollout

A developer beta of iOS 26 is available now. A public beta will come in July. The full version should arrive in fall 2025. Apple says it will run on all devices that support iOS 17 and newer.
