Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has asked the IT Ministry for a report. It needs to cover last year’s exports of $3.8 billion. It should also show yearly goals for the future. The report must include plans to reach $30 billion in IT exports.
While leading a meeting about NITB and IT ministry work in Islamabad, the prime minister emphasized change. He wants NITB reorganized. He also wants top talent hired. The digital system needs to be stronger. This will match global standards. He noted the sector creates jobs. It helps young people and women find work. He also mentioned savings from using e-office in the government.
The meeting learned that IT exports grew 19 percent in FY2025. Freelancers rose by 91 percent. Investment deals worth $700 million were signed.
The ministry helped 386 new companies. They created 40 e-job centers in 26 cities. About 315,000 students got IT job training. Over 115,000 of these were women. They also started 130 companies led by women. 2,200 government workers received training. 3,000 students learned cybersecurity skills.
For government digital systems, Rs. 6.2 billion in taxes were collected using Pak-App. E-office is in use at 98 percent of government offices. 51 new systems for government were introduced. Telecom efforts brought 4G to over 580,000 new users. Total telecom users are now over 200 million. Internet use increased by 24 percent.
NITB is busy creating 179 websites. They are also making 31 mobile apps and 113 portals. Plus, 57 consultancy projects are underway. They plan to improve infrastructure, governance, service delivery, cybersecurity, and new ideas.
