Xiaomi has officially launched its flagship Xiaomi 17 Ultra in China, alongside a special Xiaomi 17 Ultra Leica Edition, which features a unique design and a mechanical zoom ring.
Design and Display
With a resolution of 2608 x 1280 pixels, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra has an impressive 6.9-inch M10 AMOLED LTPO display. It supports a smooth 120Hz refresh rate and delivers a peak brightness of up to 3,500 nits, making it ideal for viewing even in bright conditions. The display is protected by Dragon Crystal Glass 3.0, ensuring durability.
The 17 Ultra is available in Black, Cool Smoke Purple, Starry Green, and White color options. The Leica Edition, on the other hand, features a dual-tone design that was derived from the Leica M-series cameras, a knurling pattern on the frame, and the well-known red Leica logo on the back.
This edition features a high-end, one-of-a-kind design. On the front, the device features a 50MP selfie camera and an in-display ultrasonic fingerprint scanner for enhanced security.
Internals and Software
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage. It is running Xiaomi’s most recent operating system, HyperOS 3.0, which includes a number of AI-driven features intended to improve the user experience.
In addition, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, and satellite communication are all supported by the phone, ensuring high connectivity and versatility. Additional features include Hi-Res audio, stereo speakers, and a quad-mic array, which offer immersive sound and better audio capture for calls and recordings.
Cameras
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is equipped with a Leica-branded triple rear camera setup. The main camera is a 50MP 1-inch Light Fusion 1050L sensor, which incorporates LOFIC technology to improve image quality.
In addition, the device has a 50MP ultrawide camera with autofocus and a 200MP Samsung HPE 1/1.4-inch periscope telephoto camera with continuous optical zoom, making it suitable for a wide range of photography applications.
The Leica Edition of the phone has the same camera specifications but offers added features. The mechanical zoom ring, which gives photography a more professional touch by allowing users to adjust focal length, exposure, and white balance, is one of the most important improvements. Additionally, the Leica Moment modes provide unique settings in a 3:2 aspect ratio.
Battery and Pricing
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is powered by a 6,800mAh silicon-carbon battery, which supports 90W wired charging and 50W wireless charging, allowing for fast charging speeds. Additionally, the device provides wired reverse charging of 22.5W, allowing users to charge additional devices.
The pricing for the Xiaomi 17 Ultra varies depending on the storage configuration. The price of the 12GB/512GB model is $995, the price of the 16GB/512GB model is $1,065, and the price of the 16GB/1TB model is $1,210.
For the Xiaomi 17 Ultra Leica Edition, the 16GB/512GB model is priced at $1,140, and the 16GB/1TB version costs $1,280. Both variants will be available for purchase in China starting December 27, through Xiaomi’s official online store.
