WhatsApp is creating additional privacy options for the cover photo as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance profile customisation for iOS users.
The business recently announced that it is developing a feature that will let users add large cover photos to their individual accounts. It is simple to set up and update this cover photo, which will show up above the profile picture and can be controlled straight from the app’s settings.
Users will be able to customize their profiles in a new way using this functionality. They have the option to upload a cover image, change its location, add another one, or remove it at any time.
Crucially, altering the cover photo will not have an impact on the user’s profile picture or any other account-related data. Users will always have complete choice over how their profile appears because of this flexibility.
WhatsApp has been aggressively improving the functionality to make sure it functions properly, even though cover photographs are still being developed.
New information highlighting WhatsApp’s emphasis on privacy was discovered in the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS 26.1.10.73, available through the TestFlight app.

The business is now developing a special privacy section that will allow customers to manage who can view their cover photo.
The cover photo privacy controls will be structured similarly to the current Last Seen, Profile Photo, and About options. Users will not need to learn anything new to comprehend and control their settings thanks to this well-known structure.
The cover photo privacy controls will be conveniently located within the app’s Privacy section once the feature is officially launched.
WhatsApp intends to provide multiple options for exposure. The first choice, “Everyone,” makes the cover photo visible to all WhatsApp users, even those who are not on the contact list. For individuals who frequently interact with strangers or who like a public profile, this setting is perfect.
Another option is “My contacts,” which restricts who can see the cover photo to those who are saved in the user’s address book. While still enabling friends and family to view the customized profile, this offers a more private experience.
WhatsApp is also creating the “My contacts except” feature for additional control. This feature provides selective privacy based on individual preferences by allowing users to conceal their cover photo from particular contacts.
The “Nobody” option will totally conceal the cover photo from everyone for users who want the highest level of privacy. If you choose this option, other users—regardless of their connection to the account holder—will not be able to see the cover image.
For those who prefer a simple profile or do not want to offer graphic information, this is helpful.
The privacy function for cover photos is still being tested. WhatsApp is making efforts to guarantee that the new controls work in unison with the current privacy settings. After the official release, iOS users will have more options for personalizing their profiles while still having complete control over who can view their cover photographs.
