Qualcomm’s soon-to-be-released Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 is rumored to use TSMC’s advanced third-generation 3nm process, known as N3P. However, a recent leak indicates that this may not be the only Qualcomm chipset taking advantage of this technology.
Qualcomm’s Expanding 3nm Lineup
According to the trusted leaker Digital Chat Station (DCS), another Qualcomm chipset known as SM8845 is set to be manufactured using TSMC’s 3nm process. While its specific details are still under wraps, it may serve as the successor to the upcoming Snapdragon 8s Gen 4.
An initial report suggested that the SM8845 will incorporate a fully custom architecture, and the latest leak supports this idea. DCS indicates that this chipset will utilize Qualcomm’s proprietary Oryon cores, which would set it apart from the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, likely to continue using ARM’s standard core designs.
Additionally, since the 8s Gen 4 is based on ARM cores, it probably won’t feature the Elite branding that Qualcomm reserves for its custom-core processors. However, if the SM8845 indeed includes Oryon cores, it could be positioned as another Elite-branded system on a chip (SoC).
In terms of performance, a prior report suggested that the SM8845 aims to achieve benchmark scores comparable to those of the Snapdragon 8 Elite (SM8750). It is also anticipated to make its debut in the Redmi K90.
Dimensity 9500 and Dimensity 9450
In addition to Qualcomm, recent leaks have revealed new information about MediaTek’s upcoming chips. As reported by Digital Chat Station, the flagship Dimensity 9500 will be manufactured using TSMC’s 3nm process.

Even more intriguing is the mention of another chip, the Dimensity 9450, which will also utilize the same fabrication technology. The similarities may extend beyond just the manufacturing method, as both chipsets are said to feature a big-core architecture.
Reports indicate that both the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 and Dimensity 9500 could be launched early this year. MediaTek is anticipated to introduce the Dimensity 9500 around mid-2025, while Qualcomm is expected to reveal the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 in early October.
