During that announcement, Apple mentioned that Siri would adapt based on users’ interactions, emails, messages, files, and photos, allowing it to provide assistance tailored to individual contexts. The tech giant also hinted at improved integration with third-party applications and the capability for Siri to engage with content displayed on the screen, indicating a significant enhancement in both functionality and user experience.
Delay to iOS 19
However, when iOS 18 was released, it did not include any of the anticipated AI-driven Siri upgrades, leaving many who expected a major evolution in virtual assistant technology disappointed. According to a recent report, Apple has now postponed the launch of its smarter Siri to the fall, likely coinciding with the release of iOS 19. This delay means the rollout will occur approximately 15 to 16 months after the project’s initial announcement—much later than many had hoped.
Reasons for Delay
Apple has recognized that incorporating advanced machine learning into Siri has proven to be more complex than anticipated. The company is reportedly taking additional time to enhance the AI models that power Siri’s personalized suggestions, address privacy issues, and ensure that the final product is both reliable and accurate.
While the postponement may be disheartening for users eager to experience a more intuitive and context-aware Siri, Apple’s history suggests that it prefers to deliver a refined feature rather than rush it to market.
