10 Best Innovations and Concepts That Were Showcased at MWC 2025

The Mobile World Congress always leaves us with plenty to consider, showcasing various concept devices and innovations. MWC 2025 was no exception. With well-known firms like Realme, Xiaomi, Samsung, Tecno, and Lenovo demonstrating their creative capabilities alongside newer brands like Infinix presenting unique gadgets, here’s a roundup of the concepts and innovations that impressed us at MWC 2025.

1. Realme interchangeable lens Concept Phone

Have you ever felt that smartphone cameras are good but not quite top-notch? Realme aims to change that perception with its innovative interchangeable lens concept. This phone features a 1-inch sensor and a Leica M mount, allowing users to attach a variety of lenses. Plus, Realme offers a lens adapter for compatibility with lenses from other brands, including Canon’s EF mount. During a demonstration, they showcased the smartphone’s performance with 73 mm and 234 mm lenses, and the results were impressive.

The prototype runs on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, which is expected for a concept device. However, Realme has not yet announced any plans for the mass production of this exciting device.

2. Tecno Challenges Samsung and Apple

Tecno’s Spark Slim concept device was undoubtedly one of the standout products at MWC 2025. This sleek device measures just 5.75 mm in thickness while housing an impressive 5,200 mAh battery.

The company is utilizing Silicon Carbon battery technology, which suggests that Samsung could have also incorporated a larger battery in the Galaxy S25 Edge if they had opted for the latest advancements.

The Spark Slim boasts a 6.78-inch AMOLED display and features dual 50 MP sensors on the back, complete with white LEDs that give the camera bump a resemblance to Baymax’s eyes. Additionally, it includes a USB-C port and offers both ceramic and stainless steel back options, adding an intriguing touch.

3. Tecno Uses E-Ink In The POVA

In addition to their flips, foldables, and sleek gadgets, Tecno introduced the POVA 7. Similar to Infinix’s E-ink phone featured at MWC, the POVA 7 boasts an E-Ink back that utilizes “Display Electronic Slurry Technology.” This innovative approach allows pigments to be suspended in plasma, enabling users to change the designs on the back panels just like setting a wallpaper on their phone.

4. Tecno and Infinix Buzzing With Their Own Tri-Fold

Tecno recently unveiled an impressive triple-folding phone concept that features a 6.48-inch display, which expands into a 10.1-inch tablet—pretty neat, right?

On the other hand, Infinix introduced its triple-folding concept, the Zero Series Mini Tri Fold. This device folds down to a very compact size, making it super portable. It resembles a Galaxy Z Flip 6 but has two hinges instead of one, transforming into a candy-bar shape.

While there’s no information yet on the availability of these concepts, it’s exciting to see companies pushing the boundaries of technology. We can thank Huawei for inspiring this innovation and allowing us to witness these devices in action.

5. Infinix Goes Funky and Solar

One company that caught our attention with its innovative ideas is Infinix. They introduced three exciting products: a smartphone that charges using solar energy, a solar-powered phone case with contact points for charging, and a device featuring e-ink technology on the back. Infinix’s Energy-Reserving Technology employs Perovskite mineral solar cells to effectively harness solar power without overheating the device.

According to the company, this technology can charge the device at 2W and significantly minimize standby battery drain, helping your phone last longer. Additionally, they unveiled a colorful e-ink phone that utilizes E-COLOR Shift 2.0 technology, which even incorporates AI to adjust the color palette based on your outfit or the weather. How cool is that?

6. Samsung Shows Off Its Quirky Foldable Concepts

Huawei’s Mate XT made history as the world’s first triple-folding device, sparking a desire for similar innovations from Samsung. This year, the South Korean company revealed its Flex S and Flex G concepts, but they are still quite far from being ready for production.

Additionally, Samsung introduced a unique Flip model that folds from both the top and bottom, leaving a small section of the screen visible to display the time. Unfortunately, we weren’t permitted to interact with it, so our knowledge about the phone is limited to that. Beyond traditional phone designs, Samsung also presented its Flexible Briefcase and Flex Gaming concept devices at MWC 2025.

7. Mudita Takes Us Back to 2010s

The Mudita Kompakt stands out among the various e-ink phones that have come before it. This compact smartphone takes inspiration from the design of early 2010s devices and features an e-ink display. With a robust 3,300 mAh battery, the Poland-based company has successfully raised around $500,000 on Indiegogo, advancing the device from the Concept phase to Prototype.

The phone boasts a 4.3-inch e-ink display, supports dual SIM cards, and includes a fingerprint sensor, an 8 MP camera, a 3.5mm headphone jack, NFC, as well as USB-C and wireless charging capabilities. The company claims that the battery can last over 6 days in standby mode, which is quite impressive. Additionally, it operates on Android.

8. Lenovo Explores Solar and Foldable Laptops

Lenovo stood out at MWC by unveiling the highest number of devices, including several innovative concepts. One of their highlights is the Yoga Solar, which features solar charging technology integrated into the lid. Lenovo claims it boasts the industry’s best conversion rate at 24%. Just 20 minutes of solar charging can provide enough power for an hour of video playback.

Additionally, Lenovo introduced a ThinkBook known as Codename Flip, which serves as a proof of concept. Unlike the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 rollable laptop aimed at consumers, the Codename Flip features a folding screen that expands from a compact 13 inches to an impressive 18.1 inches with a 3:4 aspect ratio when fully opened.

9. Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro: First TWS To Embrace Wi-Fi

Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro are making waves as the first truly wireless earbuds to incorporate Qualcomm’s S7 Pro chip and utilize XPAN technology for audio streaming over Wi-Fi. This innovative feature allows the earbuds to handle lossless audio at an impressive 96KHz/24 bits while keeping battery consumption in check, addressing a common drawback of Bluetooth audio streaming.

Equipped with the aptX Lossless codec, the Buds 5 Pro offer a remarkable total battery life of 40 hours when used with the charging case. They also boast noise cancellation capabilities of up to 55dB and hold Hi-Res certification. However, they do come with a premium price tag, with the Wi-Fi model retailing at $219.

10. HMD’s New Earbuds + Wireless Phone Charger

Initially, we expected a standard power bank from HMD, but they surprised us with a clever gadget that not only serves as a wireless charging power bank but also functions as true wireless earbuds. The HMD Amped Buds come with a 1600 mAh battery, providing enough power for the earbuds to last up to 95 hours. Additionally, the case acts as a Qi 2 charger that can easily attach to the back of your phone for a quick boost.

The earbuds fit snugly on either side of the case. They also come equipped with active noise cancellation (ANC), an IP54 rating for water and dust resistance, and charge through a Type-C port. While the 1600 mAh battery may seem small, it’s perfect for emergency charging needs. The earbuds support Fast Pair, deliver lossless audio through Snapdragon Sound, and utilize Bluetooth 5.4. Priced at EUR 199, this gadget is a fun addition to your tech collection.
