Galaxy A56 May Bring “Awesome Intelligence”, but Will be Barder to Repair

Samsung’s Galaxy A56 is anticipated to be released soon. The company has recently registered the trademark “Awesome Intelligence” in Europe, the United States, and South Korea. This suggests the introduction of new artificial intelligence features in the Galaxy A series, with the A56 expected to be the inaugural model to incorporate these advancements.

The device will be equipped with the Exynos 1580 chipset, which is said to be proficient in managing fundamental AI tasks, including on-device text summarization and basic photo editing functions such as object removal.

Samsung is set to provide six years of Android updates for the A56, as reported by GalaxyClub, making it the most environmentally friendly Galaxy A model to date. This is significant for users who prefer to retain their devices for an extended period.

The new A series smartphones are anticipated to be unveiled around mid-March 2025. In terms of pricing, it is likely to remain consistent with previous iterations, expected to range between €450 and €500 for the entry-level variant.

While the A56 appears to be a robust mid-range option, there is a minor drawback: it is somewhat more challenging to repair than its predecessor, the Galaxy A55. According to France’s repairability assessment system, the A56 received a score of 8.4 out of 10, whereas the Galaxy A55 achieved a score of 8.5. Although the difference is minimal, it is noteworthy.

What makes it harder to repair?

The score breaks down into different categories. The A56 lost points in the “ease of disassembly” section, scoring 5.0 compared to the A55’s 5.8. This little drop brings the A56 back to the same level as the Galaxy A54, which also scored 8.4 in the test.

Fun fact: the Galaxy A36, which is launching around the same time as the Galaxy A56, also scores an 8.4. So the internal structure could be very similar if not identical between the two devices. Last year’s models also look almost identical to each other.
