Google’s Gemini AI continues to receive upgrades by introducing two new features: Canvas and Audio Overview. These innovations are designed to help professionals complete their tasks more efficiently.
Audio Overview
The Audio Overview feature allows users to convert their uploaded documents into engaging, podcast-style summaries narrated by AI. Previously seen in Google’s NotebookLM, this feature is now integrated into Gemini and available to all users, whether they are paying or the free version.
After uploading a document—such as class notes, research papers, reports, or lengthy email threads—Gemini can create a dialogue between two AI hosts that presents the content in a friendly, conversational manner. This process takes just a few minutes per file and currently supports English, with plans for additional languages in the future.
This feature is beneficial not only for podcasters but also for students who can gain a better understanding of topics through this conversational approach. It is available on both the web and the Gemini mobile app, and users can share or download the generated audio for later listening.
Canvas Overview
Canvas provides a collaborative and interactive environment within Gemini, making it easier to brainstorm, draft, and refine content. Whether you’re writing articles, adjusting tone and formatting, or developing prototypes for web applications and games, Canvas streamlines the process with Gemini’s assistance.
Here is what it looks like in action.
With a simple click, you can export your work to Google Docs, facilitating smooth collaboration with others once your AI-enhanced draft is complete. Additionally, Canvas includes tools for developers, allowing them to quickly prototype scripts and code while receiving real-time feedback and support from Gemini.
Canvas is now being rolled out to all Gemini and Gemini Advanced users worldwide and supports all languages.
