Govt Seeks Budget Proposals from IT, Telecom, and Mobile Industries

The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) has solicited budget proposals from essential stakeholders, including the IT sector, telecommunications industry, mobile device manufacturers, and fiber-optic companies, in preparation for the federal budget for the fiscal year 2025-26.

The deadline for the submission of these proposals is March 10.

According to sources cited by ProPakistani, the proposals are expected to concentrate on policies and incentives aimed at enhancing digital infrastructure, promoting local manufacturing, and bolstering Pakistan’s IT exports. The government intends to utilize these recommendations to tackle various sectoral challenges, such as excessive taxation, regulatory obstacles, and limitations on investment.

Industry leaders have been encouraged to present detailed proposals that encompass broadband expansion, data center development, cloud computing, cybersecurity measures, and digital payment systems. The telecommunications sector is anticipated to advocate for tax reductions on mobile devices and network infrastructure, while the IT sector is likely to pursue incentives for software exports and support for freelancers.

Following their submission, the proposals will undergo a review process by MoITT and relevant governmental departments before being integrated into the final budget framework. A series of consultations with stakeholders is anticipated to ensure that the budget is in alignment with the growth objectives of the industry.
