HyperOS 3 is Here: Xiaomi Super (Dynamic) Island, New AI Smarts & Seamless Apple Integration

Xiaomi’s latest platform, HyperOS 3, is now official. It brings a wide range of changes, upgrades, and new additions, which include more than 100 updates across performance, new design, enhanced security & privacy, advanced AI, app & system icons visuals, Xiaomi Super Island, Interconnectivity, Xiaomi Super AI and much more. But there are some notable features, including seamless interaction with Apple devices. So let’s check it out.

HyperOS 3: Visual Fluidity & Faster Performance

HyperOS 3 aims to offer a smoother and fluid experience across the board. Built on the Android 16 OS and enhanced by Xiaomi’s HyperCore tech, the brand promises smoother UI animations along with 21% faster app launches, 15% improved gaming frame rates (9% CPU,10%GPU), and nearly 19% reduced frame loss overall. Over 100 system animations have been optimized for a more responsive feel. The UI has become more rounded, while also revamping icons and the wallpaper. You now get more cinematic lock screens along with newer AI-powered dynamic wallpapers.

Xiaomi’s Super Island

A standout feature of HyperOS 3 is the Super Island. As the name suggests, this appears to be directly inspired by Apple’s Dynamic Island. This also functions similarly with a dynamic pill-shaped module on the top that hosts up to three live app widgets, like music, timers, or more. Users can access it via a simple gesture tap, and it even supports over 70 integrated services as well as quick drag-and-drop sharing.

Smarter Gallery & AI Tools

The Gallery app gets a makeover with intelligent photo albums, custom sorting, and object recognition for quick search. XiaoAI is smarter too now, with on-screen content awareness. The AI assistant now supports over 80 apps and performs more than 1,000 actions, all backed by both on-device and cloud LLMs. One can circle on-screen content to instantly trigger actions like translation and search seamlessly.

Cozy with Apple

HyperOS 3 blurs ecosystem boundaries with seamless Apple ecosystem integration. Your Apple iPad and Macs can now run multiple floating app windows and even unlock your Xiaomi device using Face ID or Touch ID. Push notifications, photos, files, and even replies on messaging apps sync seamlessly across devices. Sharing pictures and media between Xiaomi devices and even iPhones is effortless as well.

Enhanced Security and Privacy

On the security front, HyperOS 3 delivers post-quantum encryption, offline Find-My-Device, and dual-factor authentication for accounts. Sensitive functions like app permissions, photo viewing, and data sharing come with finer controls.

Rollout Timeline

Starting August 29, HyperOS 3 enters beta for the Xiaomi 15 series, Redmi K80 Pro & Ultimate, and select Xiaomi Pad 7 models. From mid-September, other phones and tablets, including the MIX Flip 2 and Xiaomi 14 series, will join the update program.
