Samsung may have a big surprise planned for its upcoming flagship phones. Early rumors suggested the Galaxy S26+ would be dropped. Now, a new rumor says the smaller S26 will also be replaced. It may become a new Galaxy S26 Pro. Here’s what we know so far.
Is Samsung Killing the Galaxy S25 & S25+ for a New S26 Pro and Edge?
The tech company is reportedly creating a successor to the S25 Edge. This new phone would take the place of the Galaxy S26+. It will have a screen of a similar size. However, its body will be slimmer. The battery will also get a boost. AndroidAuthority’s latest report claims the regular Galaxy S26 is being replaced. It will be replaced by a new Galaxy S26 Pro.
This means the lineup will still have three phones. This is different from the S25 family. It will include an S26 Pro, an S26 Edge, and an S26 Ultra. The report found proof in the One UI 8 software. This suggests Samsung won’t make base models for its 2026 flagships. Samsung has used codenames for different phones before. For example, the S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra.
But the new internal names M1, M2, and M3 refer to the S26 Pro, S26 Edge, and S26 Ultra. There is no mention of base or Plus models. It is still not clear why this is happening. Samsung might just be changing the names. Or maybe they plan to make the standard version better. It might match the more expensive Galaxy S phones. This is just an unconfirmed report. So, take it with a grain of salt. Stay tuned for updates.
