Nubia Z70S Ultra Global Launch – 50MP Light and Shadow Master 990 Omnivision Camera, Snapdragon 8 Elite & 144Hz Display

Nubia has introduced the Z70S Ultra for global markets after its launch in China last month. The main focus is on camera quality, and pre-orders are now open on the Nubia website until May 28, 2025.

Nubia Z70S Ultra Features

The standout feature is a 50MP custom “Light and Shadow Master 990” sensor from OmniVision. It offers a 35mm focal length, phase detection autofocus in horizontal and vertical directions, and dual conversion gain HDR. Nubia claims this sensor produces images that surpass typical one-inch sensors.

The device also includes a 64MP periscope telephoto lens and a 50MP ultra-wide camera capable of macro shots. There is a physical shutter button that can be half-pressed for focus or fully pressed to take a photo. Nubia’s Retro photography kit, sold separately, adds a case, filter rings, and a camera grip with controls to improve the shooting experience.

The Z70S Ultra sports a 6.85-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2688×1216. It has a 144Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 2000 nits. The screen supports 10-bit color, covers all of DCI-P3, uses DC dimming, and has 2592Hz PWM flicker reduction.

Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip on a 3nm process and an Adreno 830 GPU, the phone offers 12GB RAM with 256GB storage or 16GB RAM with 512GB storage. Both variants use LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. The device runs on Android 15 and Nubia’s Nebula AIOS 1.5 interface.

The front camera is 16MP and hidden under the display. The device has an in-display fingerprint sensor, an IR sensor, dual stereo speakers with DTS:X Ultra, three microphones, and dual X-axis linear motors. It supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, and USB Type-C. It is rated IP68 and IP69 for dust and water resistance.

Pricing & Availability

Power comes from a 6600mAh battery with 80W fast charging. The starting price is $779 for the 12GB + 256GB version and $869 for the 16GB + 512GB model. The Retro kit is sold separately. Nubia will also launch the Nubia Pad Pro globally on June 12, with prices to be announced.
