One Person Arrested Amid Crackdown on CPID and Patched Phone Sellers

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Gilgit office, working with the FIA Cyber Crime Reporting Centre, carried out a major raid against illegal phone tampering and cloning. They targeted a mobile repair shop in NLI Market, Gilgit City. During the operation, authorities seized a laptop and special tools used to change or copy IMEI numbers. One person was arrested and taken into custody by the Cyber Crime team for further investigation.

PTA emphasized that it is closely monitoring the illegal sale and use of tampered or cloned phones. These devices are dangerous because they allow anonymous and untraceable communication. Such phones are often used in cybercrimes, scams, kidnappings, and other illegal acts.

The authority urges people to report any suspicious activity related to mobile cloning. PTA is strengthening its rules and will take strict action against offenders. The cooperation between PTA and law enforcement helps keep mobile services safe and lawful.
