Pakistan Activates New Internet Cable, Gains 13.2 Tbps – But Will Internet Speeds Improve?

Pakistan has taken a major step toward strengthening its international digital links with the launch of the SEA-ME-WE 6 submarine cable system. This new high-capacity fibre cable stretches 19,200 kilometres and connects Pakistan with countries ranging from Singapore to France.

With a total capacity of over 100 Tbps, the system will offer one of the fastest and lowest-latency routes between Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Western Europe. This upgrade will improve internet performance for users and businesses across Pakistan greatly.

The global consortium built SEA-ME-WE 6, which includes Transworld Associates from Pakistan, Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company, Bharti Airtel, Dhiraagu, Djibouti Telecom, Mobily, Orange, Singtel, Sri Lanka Telecom, Telecom Egypt, Telekom Malaysia, and Telin. They united to craft a fresh network for rising needs in speed and steady links worldwide.

SEA-ME-WE 6 stands out with its sharp design. It adds more fibre pairs and doubles the power of prior systems. Varied paths cross Egypt. Multiple landing spots spread risks. This setup cuts outage odds and firms up the world’s internet flow.

Providers gain fast scaling, stronger fault guards, and lower ownership costs. The cable builds extra backup for core internet paths. Links hold up in peak loads or surprise breaks.

Pakistan claims 13.2 Tbps total capacity from the project. It fires up 4 Tbps at once. New bandwidth fuels cloud work, data hubs, fintech, online sales, video streams, and other web tools.

SEA-ME-WE 6 delivers quicker, steadier ties abroad for Pakistan. It matches the boom in its online economy. The rollout sets a key mark for global bonds and solid digital foundations.
