Pakistan Mobile Phone Imports Surge 125% in July 2025

Pakistan’s mobile phone imports surged in July, reaching $145.345 million. This is a significant jump from $64.413 million in the same month last year, showing over a 125% increase. In Pakistani rupees, imports grew by 130.45%, from Rs 17.958 billion to Rs 41.385 billion.

Month-over-month, imports rose by 4.41%. July 2025 saw imports of $41.385 million, up from $39.457 million in June 2025.

For the full fiscal year 2024-25, Pakistan imported $1.494 billion in mobile phones. This represents a 21.31% decrease from the previous year’s $1.898 billion. In rupees, imports totaled Rs 417.351 billion, a 22.09% drop from Rs 535.690 billion in 2023-24.

Overall telecom imports for fiscal year 2024-25 were $2.099 billion. This marks an 11.30% decline from $2.366 billion in 2023-24.

Local factories produced 12.05 million mobile phones in the first five months of 2025. Only 0.76 million were imported commercially. Last year, 2024, local plants assembled 31.38 million phones, while 1.71 million were imported. The locally made phones included 6.53 million 2G devices and 5.52 million smartphones. PTA data shows 67% of phones in Pakistan are smartphones, with 33% being 2G.
