The Prime Minister has approved the creation of a Search and Selection Committee to appoint the Chairperson and two Members of the Pakistan Digital Authority (PDA) under the Digital Nation Pakistan Act, 2025. The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) has issued a formal notice confirming the committee’s members and its responsibilities.
The notice states that Shaza Fatima, the Federal Minister for IT and Telecom, will serve as the committee’s convener. Members include the Federal Minister for Economic Affairs, the Minister of State for Railways, Bilal Azhar Kayani, who is also the Minister of State for Finance and PMDU. The committee will also include Secretaries of the Establishment Division, Cabinet Division, and IT & Telecom Division, along with Salman Akhtar from the PRAL Board.
The committee’s main job is to find and narrow down suitable candidates for the three open positions. It will select three top candidates for each role based on their skills and experience. The committee will then recommend these candidates to the Prime Minister, including salary and benefit details.
The committee has the authority to meet with the shortlisted candidates to discuss employment terms and conditions. These appointments are part of bringing the Pakistan Digital Authority into full operation. The authority will oversee digital governance and help shape national regulations in this field.
