PTA and FIA Bust Phone IMEI Cloning Operation in Sukkur, Arrest Shop Owner

In a major effort to combat illegal IMEI tampering and cloning, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Zonal Office in Sukkur, in partnership with the FIA Cyber Crime Reporting Center, successfully executed a raid on a mobile shop situated in the Old Sabzi Mandi mobile market of Pano Aqil City.

During the operation, authorities seized a Dell Core i5 laptop, a USB device containing CM2 software for IMEI tampering, and five mobile phones. The FIA apprehended the shop owner, and a First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against him.

The PTA is actively working with the FIA to monitor and address illicit activities related to mobile handset tampering. IMEI cloning presents significant national security risks by facilitating untraceable communications that can be exploited for cybercrime, financial fraud, and other illegal activities.

This operation is part of the PTA’s ongoing commitment to eliminate illegal IMEI tampering and cloning.
