PTA Conducts Raid at Rawalpindi’s Singapore Plaza Over CPID, Patched Phones

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) conducted strong action against illegal IMEI tampering and the sale of cloned or patched phones. The PTA Zonal Office in Rawalpindi, working closely with the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), carried out a raid at City Mobile Center in Singapore Plaza, Rawalpindi.

During the operation, authorities seized a laptop, a CPU, and a mobile phone used for modifying IMEIs illegally. PTA emphasized that it has a strict policy against the illegal changing or trading of mobile device identifiers. Such activities threaten national security and public safety by making it easier for cybercriminals to hide, commit financial crimes, carry out abductions, and perform other crimes.

The PTA reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding Pakistan’s mobile networks. The public is encouraged to report any signs of phone tampering or cloning. Those involved in these illegal acts will face legal action. PTA remains determined to crack down on all such offenses.
