The PTA Zonal Office Lahore, working closely with the NCCIA Gujranwala, carried out a successful raid on a ZONG Franchise in I-10 Markaz, Islamabad. The franchise was caught issuing SIMs illegally.
During the operation, authorities seized about 30,000 SIM cards linked to 3,000 CNICs. They also found digital fingerprints, six BVS devices—two of which were used for illegal purposes—one laptop, and three mobile phones. These items were taken as evidence by the FIA team. Two people, including the franchise manager, were arrested immediately. An FIR has been filed, and the NCCIA is now investigating further.
This action is part of the PTA’s ongoing efforts to prevent the misuse of the Multi-Finger Biometric Verification System (MBVS). It shows their strong commitment to stopping illegal SIM issuance across the country.
