PTA, MCMC Successfully Conclude 5G Enablement Masterclass

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), in partnership with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), successfully hosted a four-day Masterclass titled “5G and Beyond: Shaping the Future of Connectivity” in Islamabad from February 17 to 20, 2025.

The event attracted over 60 participants, including industry leaders, policymakers, and academics, and concentrated on strategies for 5G deployment, spectrum management, and innovative applications. Led by experts from the MCMC Academy, the Masterclass included technical sessions, panel discussions, and various knowledge-sharing activities.

PTA Chairman Major General (R) Hafeez Ur Rehman highlighted the essential role of 5G in fostering economic growth and innovation, remarking, “This workshop reflects our collective efforts to prepare for the 5G era.”

During the closing ceremony, he awarded shields to the MCMC delegation and certificates to the participants. Following the event, the MCMC team visited the PTA Headquarters, where they received a briefing, toured the NTSOC/Data Center, and concluded their visit with a commemorative photograph. The PTA expressed its gratitude to the MCMC Executive Chairman and his team for their contributions to 5G capacity building.

This collaboration underscores the mutual commitment of both countries to address challenges and realize the full potential of 5G for regional digital transformation. Additionally, the Masterclass served as a continuation of the Letter of Cooperation (LoC) signed between the PTA and MCMC on October 3, 2024, in the presence of the Prime Ministers of Pakistan and Malaysia.
