Realme GT 8 Series confirmed to launch in October

The next wave of Android flagships is expected to roll out starting in September, and Xiaomi might be the first to launch.

The Xiaomi 16 series is rumored to debut with Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 as early as next month. While that remains unconfirmed, we now have official word on another major release.

This week, Realme Vice President Wang Wei confirmed that the GT 8 series will launch in October. Earlier, Wang teased that the new lineup would feature a completely redesigned look and “will have surprises.”

Those surprises might come in the form of hardware that puts Realme right next to the biggest names in Android. Both the GT 8 and GT 8 Pro are expected to run on Qualcomm’s yet-to-be-released Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 (SM8850).

What to expect?

The GT 8 Pro is rumored to feature a flat 6.85-inch 2K OLED display from Samsung, complete with an AR anti-glare coating similar to what’s on the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

Under the hood, there could be a massive 7,000mAh+ battery paired with 100W fast charging. Realme is also reportedly using a metal middle frame to keep things sturdy.

On the camera side, the standout upgrade might be a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto sensor, possibly Samsung’s HP9. That’s the same camera hardware rumored for Oppo’s upcoming Find X9 Pro.

For security and durability, it will reportedly feature a 3D ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor and a metal frame.

There’s no word on pricing yet. The Realme GT 7 Pro launched at a starting price of 3,599 Yuan ($500). So its successor could land in a similar range, if not a bit higher.
