Realme has introduced two new flagship smartphones, the GT8 and GT8 Pro, which were launched in China. The devices share similar designs and displays, but differ in internal hardware, charging speeds, and camera configurations.
The GT8 Pro stands out with a swappable camera module and a more powerful chipset, while the standard GT8 offers slightly scaled-back specs at a lower price.
Design and Display
Both the GT8 and GT8 Pro feature a 6.79-inch 2K LTPO AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate and up to 2,000 nits of brightness, which peaks at 4,000 nits in localized areas. The devices are available in white, green, and blue, with the green version featuring a textured finish, while the others have a matte surface.

The GT8 Pro introduces a modular rear camera housing that can be removed and replaced using magnets and Torx screws. Realme has announced official camera island designs in square, round, and robot-themed shapes, and is encouraging users to create their own using shared 3D model files.

Despite housing a larger battery, the GT8 Pro measures 8.2mm in thickness, making it slightly thinner than the standard GT8, which is 8.55mm thick.
Internals and Software
The GT8 Pro runs on the Snapdragon Elite Gen 5 Extreme Edition chipset, paired with a custom R1 graphics processor. The standard GT8 uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite. Both models offer up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage.
Both phones ship with Realme UI 7.0 based on Android 16.
Cameras
Realme has worked with Ricoh to tune the camera systems on both models. The 50MP main sensor on both phones has a 1/1.56-inch size and f/1.8 aperture, and supports Ricoh’s signature shooting modes: Positive, Negative, Standard, Monochrome, and High-contrast Black & White.
The GT8 Pro features a 200MP periscope telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, 12x lossless zoom, and dual-axis OIS, as well as a 50MP ultrawide camera with a 116-degree field of view. It supports 8K video recording at 30fps.
The GT8 includes a 50MP telephoto camera with an 80mm f/2.8 lens and an 8MP ultrawide sensor. These are more basic compared to the Pro, but still aim to offer functional zoom and wide-angle capabilities. The front camera on the GT8 Pro is a 32MP unit.
Battery and Pricing
Both smartphones are powered by a 7,000 mAh dual-cell battery. The GT8 Pro supports 120W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and reverse wireless charging. The GT8, while also featuring a 7,000 mAh battery, supports 100W wired charging, reaching full charge in approximately 45 minutes. The Pro model also carries IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings, offering enhanced protection against water and dust.

In China, the Realme GT8 starts at approximately $407 for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage model, and goes up to about $575 for the top-end 16GB RAM and 1TB variant. The GT8 Pro starts at $562 for the 12GB+256GB model, and reaches $730 for the 16GB RAM and 1TB storage configuration.
International availability is yet to be confirmed, and pricing will vary in the global market compared to Chinese models.
