Xiaomi officially introduced the Redmi Note 14S in Czechia and Ukraine, promoting it as a new entry in their mid-range smartphone series. However, upon closer inspection, it becomes clear that this model is essentially a Redmi Note 13 Pro 4G with minor design tweaks. In essence, it offers no significant improvements, leading to the impression that this launch is more about rebranding than an actual update to the product line.
Design and Display
Xiaomi has made a slight adjustment to the design of the Redmi Note 14S by modifying the layout of the rear camera. However, the overall look remains very similar to its predecessor.
The smartphone still boasts a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, ensuring vibrant colors and smooth scrolling. Users can anticipate the same visual quality as before. The Redmi Note 14S comes in three attractive colors: Blue, Purple, and Black.
Internals and Software
Internally, Xiaomi continues to utilize the MediaTek Helio G99 chipset, which is also found in the Redmi Note 13 Pro 4G. While the specific software version hasn’t been disclosed, it may run on HyperOS, likely based on an older Android version, as the Note 13 Pro 4G was released in 2024 with Android 13.
Camera
The 200MP main rear camera is back, delivering high-resolution images just like the previous model. However, there are no new features or enhancements to the camera system. The only change is a subtle redesign of the camera bump, giving the device a fresh look. In terms of photo quality, users should not expect any significant differences.
Battery and Pricing
Although Xiaomi hasn’t confirmed the battery specifications, it is expected to still feature a 5,000 mAh battery with 33W fast charging support. The price of the device is around $260.
