This year, smartphone updates seem to be arriving sooner. The Xiaomi 16 series might launch in September. That’s a month earlier than last year’s Xiaomi 15 series. A new leak also suggests the Redmi Turbo 5 will come out ahead of schedule.
Redmi Turbo 5 may launch in December

The Redmi Turbo 4 was announced in January 2025. But tipster Smart Pikachu says the company is pushing up the Turbo 5 release. They are aiming for a December launch in China.
The Redmi Turbo 5 could be the first phone with the new Dimensity 8500 chip. This chip will be exclusive to Xiaomi for a while. Other phones using it might not appear until early 2026.
Reports say the Redmi Turbo 5 will have a 6.67-inch flat OLED screen. It will offer a 1.5K resolution. The chip might be called the Dimensity 8500 Ultra. It’s also expected to have a metal frame and a large 7,000mAh battery.
Next year, the Redmi Turbo 5 Pro will likely be bigger. It should have a 6.83-inch screen, similar to the Turbo 4 Pro. Rumors point to a battery over 8,000mAh. It will support 100W charging. This model might launch globally as the Poco F8.
Poco X8 Pro could be Coming Soon

The global Poco X8 Pro could be a renamed Redmi Turbo 5. The Poco X7 Pro was certified in December 2024. It launched in January 2025. The Poco X8 Pro is already approved by the EEC. This suggests it could launch soon after the Turbo 5, possibly in December.
