Samsung Might Completely Replace the S26+ With This Model

Just hours after introducing the Galaxy S25 Edge, Samsung faces early rumors about its future phones. According to South Korean industry sources, the company may drop the Galaxy S26+ from its 2026 lineup. Instead, Samsung might introduce a new version of the Edge model.

Poor Sales May Be the Reason

Sources close to Samsung’s planning suggest the Galaxy S26 series will include three models: the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26 Edge, and Galaxy S26 Ultra. Dropping the Plus version would mark a big change from Samsung’s usual three-tier flagship lineup.

The possible elimination appears to be based on sales reports. Early data shows the S25+ is selling much slower than other models. Samsung expects to sell a total of 37.7 million units of the Galaxy S25 series this year. Of these, 17.4 million will be the S25 Ultra, and 13.6 million will be the base S25. The S25+ only accounts for 6.7 million units, making it the least popular in the series.

Galaxy S26 Edge Could Take Its Place

If plans move forward, the Galaxy S26 Edge will replace the Plus model. The Edge name emphasizes a thinner design, likely with differences in style and hardware from the other models. This move could be similar to Apple’s plan. Rumors suggest Apple will replace the iPhone Plus with a thinner iPhone 17 Air.

Details about the Galaxy S26 Edge are still being worked out. Some reports say it may include a new type of battery. Samsung might use silicon-carbon (Si/C) battery tech in the second-generation Edge. This could help with power capacity, especially since the device will be slimmer. But nothing has been confirmed yet.

Plans Remain Under Review

The development of the Galaxy S26 series is still in early phases. Samsung has not made any final decisions about the lineup. The possibility of dropping the Plus model remains under review. The company could change its plans as they get closer to release.

Samsung has not commented on these rumors. All details could change before the official launch.
