Samsung is well known for its powerful displays and cameras in smartphones, but battery innovation has stayed quiet until recently. A new leak suggests that the company is now testing fresh battery ideas privately with the aim of extending battery life without risking safety.
The tip comes from a trusted source @PandaFlashPro on X, who reports that Samsung is exploring several battery types to boost durability and energy capacity. While brands like Oppo, Vivo, Honor, and Xiaomi have introduced silicon carbon batteries, Samsung is taking a more careful approach.
These batteries are smaller and can hold more power, making them attractive for slim phones like the rumored Galaxy S25 Edge. However, they have drawbacks; silicon tends to expand during charging, possibly hurting long-term battery health. Samsung remains cautious, partly because of past issues like the Galaxy Note 7, and seems committed to ensuring safety and reliability.

Although there are no official updates, whispers suggest Samsung is also considering solid-state and next-generation lithium-ion batteries. These newer options may not be ready for mass use yet but promise a good balance of performance and safety.
It is also reported that Samsung won’t introduce major camera upgrades to the Galaxy S series until the Galaxy S28. Whether this conservative stance affects only the camera or other features remains uncertain.
The fact that Samsung is testing new ways to increase battery energy density shows it will take time. Last year, Samsung unveiled its ALOP lens tech, yet flagship models like the Galaxy S25 Edge and Z Fold7 still feature large camera bumps. This indicates that, even with new tech, the design and usability of these phones continue to have issues.
