Samsung Tri-Fold Phone Name Leaks and it Hints at a Bold New Design

Samsung provided a glimpse of its forthcoming tri-fold smartphone during the recent Galaxy S25 Unpacked event, showcasing merely a silhouette of the device. This presentation served as a discreet indication, lacking any further specifics.

Nevertheless, tipster yeux1122 has recently disclosed on Naver that the foldable device is expected to be named the “Galaxy G Fold.” As per the information shared, the launch of this device could occur as soon as the third quarter of 2025, positioning it as one of Samsung’s most ambitious foldable initiatives to date.

Samsung Galaxy G Fold Specs (Expected)

The leak indicates that the Galaxy G Fold is anticipated to feature a 9.96-inch display, which is approximately 30% larger than the 7.6-inch screen found on the Galaxy Z Fold 6. When folded, the device is reported to measure 6.54 inches, making it comparable in height to standard smartphones. Although its weight is expected to be similar to that of Huawei’s Mate XT, it may be slightly thicker due to its inward-folding design.

In contrast to previous foldable models from Samsung, the Galaxy G Fold is rumored to incorporate a G-shaped folding mechanism, allowing both sides of the screen to fold inward. This design is believed to provide enhanced protection by keeping the display shielded when closed, unlike Huawei’s Mate XT, which utilizes an S-shaped fold that leaves part of the screen exposed.

Additionally, Samsung is reportedly working on a new type of display and protective film tailored specifically for this device, which would further improve its durability. Given the complexities associated with manufacturing such a foldable, production volumes are likely to be limited, positioning the device as an experimental, high-end product rather than a mainstream flagship.

While some sources initially projected a launch in 2026, display analyst Ross Young has suggested that Samsung might unveil the Galaxy G Fold earlier, potentially in late 2025, alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7.

Nevertheless, the pricing remains uncertain. With Huawei’s Mate XT debuting at nearly $2,800, it is plausible that Samsung’s tri-fold device could also command a premium price exceeding $2,000.
