Oppo’s newest book-style foldable device has been launched worldwide following numerous leaks and promotional teasers. This device not only poses a significant challenge to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 but also claims the title of the thinnest foldable smartphone to date, surpassing the previous record held by the Honor Magic V3.
The Find N5 serves as the direct successor to the Find N3, featuring enhancements across various dimensions, particularly in its design. Let us examine the details.
Design and Display
The Find N5 exhibits an impressively slim profile, comparable to that of a USB C port when unfolded, measuring a mere 4.21mm in its open state and 8.93mm when folded. This remarkable design is attributed to the innovative Titanium Flexion Hinge, which is more compact than the hinge found in the Find N3. Additionally, this device features the world’s first IPX9 rating for a foldable smartphone, enabling it to endure water jets and immersion.
The advanced hinge design has also facilitated a reduction in the crease on the 8.12-inch LTPO OLED main display, which offers a resolution of 1080p, a refresh rate ranging from 1 to 120Hz, a peak brightness of 2100 nits, and a 9:9:9 aspect ratio. The external display measures 6.62 inches and is also an LTPO OLED panel, featuring a 1080p resolution and a refresh rate of 1 to 120Hz, but with an enhanced peak brightness of 2,450 nits. Both displays are compatible with Oppo’s Pen Stylus.
Software and Performance
The Oppo Find N5 is equipped with the latest flagship processor from Android, the Snapdragon 8 Elite, albeit in a binned variant that features one fewer performance core. In the international market, the sole memory configuration offered includes 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage, with no option for expandable memory via a card slot.
On the software front, ColorOS 15 operates on top of Android 15, providing a comprehensive array of AI functionalities. Oppo has committed to delivering four years of operating system updates and six years of security patches.
Camera
The rear of the phone features a circular module housing three cameras. The primary sensor is a 50MP LYT-700, offering a 21mm equivalent focal length and equipped with optical image stabilization (OIS). The second camera is a Samsung JN5 50MP periscope lens that provides 3x optical zoom with a 70mm equivalent focal length, and it can also function as a macro camera. The third camera is an 8MP ultrawide sensor that includes autofocus capabilities.
On the front, both the external and internal screens are equipped with 8MP ultrawide cameras featuring a 21mm lens. These front cameras support 4K video recording, although this is restricted to 30 frames per second, in contrast to the main camera, which is capable of recording at 60 frames per second.
Battery and Pricing
Oppo has successfully integrated a substantial 5,600 mAh battery into the Find N5, utilizing silicon carbon technology, which allows for 80W wired charging and 50W wireless charging capabilities.
The Oppo Find N5 will be offered in three colors: Cosmic Black, Misty White, and Dusk Purple, with the latter being exclusive to the Chinese market. The current pricing is approximately $1,870.
