Tomorrow, (September 4), as Huawei second tri-foldable phone, the Mate XTs will be released in China. Features like the ability to connect to satellites and support for styluses are expected to be added incrementally to the device in comparison to its predecessor.
Meanwhile, Samsung is also preparing to step into the tri-foldable segment. According to a new report from ET News, the company might not launch until the end of the year. According to the Korean publication, Samsung could unveil its first tri-folding smartphone at a special Unpacked event in October 2025.
Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold: Limited production and availability

The Galaxy Z TriFold is expected to be produced in quantities of approximately 50,000 units, according to reports from Samsung. The limited run will allow the brand to assess market response to the fresh design and mitigate risks if early issues appear.
Another reason is to avoid reducing the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s sales momentum, which has been strong since its launch in July. It is anticipated that the tri-fold will only be sold in South Korea and China at this time.
Galaxy Z TriFold Features
- A 9.96-inch AMOLED tri-folding display
- A 6.49-inch secondary cover display
- Support for wireless and reverse wireless charging
- NFC payments
- Advanced multitasking software for large screens
Other details, such as the processor, cameras, storage, and battery size, are still under wraps. This setup is considered more durable than Huawei’s Mate XT Ultimate, where part of the screen folds outward.
Galaxy Z TriFold will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy. While details on the processor, camera setup, RAM, storage and battery capacity remain unclear, reports highlight that Samsung has already started mass production. But with only 50,000 devices available, the TriFold feels more like a statement piece than a mass-market launch.
The company will test the tri-fold form factor as a first-generation prototype, determining its subsequent foldable strategy based on consumer acceptance.
