Starlink’s Official Pakistan Launch Date Revealed

The licensing process for Starlink, the satellite internet service from Elon Musk, is moving forward in stages, as reported by the Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO). The regulatory authority has already granted a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to Starlink.

According to sources from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), the next phase involves issuing a license to Starlink. The PTA estimates that it will take about six months for Starlink to be fully operational in Pakistan, with plans to deliver direct internet services to users via its Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites.

Starlink is required to pay a licensing fee of $640,000 to the PTA and has already submitted its application along with the necessary technical and financial documentation, as confirmed by PTA officials.

Currently, the PTA is conducting an internal assessment of all elements related to Starlink’s licensing. After this review, the final decision will be made by the PTA chairman and its three board members. Sources indicate that the license is likely to be issued within the next few weeks.

Once the license is approved, Starlink will begin accepting orders from Pakistani customers for its internet services and will be permitted to set up its equipment throughout the country. The company intends to establish two to three ground stations in Pakistan to facilitate its operations.

The introduction of Starlink could provide internet access to remote regions that lack cable or cellular service. In terms of pricing, it is expected to be more affordable in Pakistan than in the US and other developed nations.
