Samsung has announced the timeline for the rollout of One UI 7. The update, based on Android 15, will initially be available for the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Z Flip 6, starting on April 7. Additionally, the company has broadened the list of devices that will receive the update, confirming that several older flagship models will also be included globally.
One UI 7 Eligible Galaxy Devices
A press release from Samsung Singapore has confirmed additional devices set to receive One UI 7. These include:
- Galaxy S-Series: Galaxy S23, S22, and S21 series (Standard, Plus, and Ultra variants).
- Galaxy S Fan Edition (FE): Galaxy S23 FE and Galaxy S21 FE. (The Galaxy S22 FE was canceled).
- Galaxy Z Foldables: Galaxy Z Fold 3, Z Flip 3, Z Fold 4, Z Flip 4, Z Fold 5, and Z Flip 5.
- Galaxy Tab Series: Galaxy Tab S10, Tab S9, and Tab S8 series.
- Galaxy Tab FE Models: Tab S9 FE and S9 FE+.
- Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2024 Model): It remains unclear if the 2022 variant will receive the update.
Rollout Uncertainty for Mid-Range & Budget Models
Samsung has yet to disclose which mid-range and budget Galaxy devices will be compatible with One UI 7. Furthermore, the company has not announced a specific timeline for the rollout of this update for most of the devices mentioned. The availability of the update is expected to differ by region, with some models likely to begin receiving One UI 7 starting in April.
What’s New in One UI 7?
One UI 7 introduces a variety of enhancements designed to elevate the user experience. A significant aspect of this update is the integration of AI, with Google’s Gemini AI serving as the default assistant, facilitating smooth multi-app interactions. New features like Now Bar and Now Brief offer real-time information on the lock screen, including navigation directions and sports scores, while the AI-powered Now Brief provides tailored updates such as weather forecasts and calendar reminders throughout the day. The camera interface has been revamped for easier one-handed operation, moving essential controls to the bottom of the screen and streamlining shooting modes for better organization. Additionally, a vertical app drawer option has been added, enabling users to arrange apps alphabetically for quicker access. Finally, enhanced animations contribute to smoother transitions and a more seamless experience throughout the interface.
