Xiaomi has started taking early orders for its next top phone series. While the exact name isn’t official, experts believe it’s the Xiaomi 16 series. It’s anticipated to be the first phone globally with the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip.
Xiaomi 16 Series Launch Window

Qualcomm plans to reveal its Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, also known as Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, between September 23 and 25. This will happen at the 2025 Snapdragon Summit. Early test results hint that this chip could score over 4000 in single-core tests. Multi-core scores might exceed 11,000. This is a big jump from the last chip. A recent report from tipster Digital Chat Station suggests Xiaomi might announce the phones between September 24 and 26.
Rumors point to four models: the Xiaomi 16, 16 Pro, 16 Pro Max or Pro Mini (these names are not final), and the 16 Ultra. Prices are expected to start around 4,299 Yuan, about $600. The Ultra model is predicted to arrive in early 2026. The other three phones should launch later this month.
These phones are expected to feature new screen designs. They will have rounded corners and wider shapes for a better viewing experience. Camera improvements are also likely, thanks to the continued work with Leica. Expect big batteries and faster charging for longer use. The whole lineup should come with the new HyperOS 3 system. This should provide smoother operation and smarter features.
