Xiaomi 17S to feature Next-Gen Xring O2 Chip in 2026 | Xiaomi 17S Specs and Price

With regard to its plans for in-house chips, Xiaomi does not appear to be slowing down. A new leak suggests that the Xiaomi 15S Pro, the first smartphone equipped with the company’s own Xring O1 processor, is already in development. It was released in May 2025.

Smart Pikachu, a well-known Chinese tipper, claims that the Xiaomi 17S series is currently in development. The “S” lineup will continue to be positioned as the experimental sibling that utilizes Xiaomi’s in-house silicon, as the name matches that of the forthcoming Xiaomi 17 flagship family.

This time, that probably means the introduction of the Xring O2 chip of the second generation.

The current Xiaomi 15S Pro was a mid-cycle refresh that substituted Xiaomi’s own processor for that of Qualcomm. The phone didn’t do much else besides that key change, but it was an important first step toward less relying on other chipmakers.

The Xiaomi 17S lineup will continue that effort with updated processing power and a more mature baseband design, if a recent leak is accurate. The ongoing development of the network components supports the expectation of a release in 2026 rather than earlier.

The 17S series, like its predecessor, is expected to be sold only in China. This gives Xiaomi a safer environment in which to improve its own chip technology before considering expansion.

For the time being, global flagships will still rely on established Qualcomm platforms.

Although it is anticipated that the Xring O2 will make use of ARM’s Travis core, there are still a lot of unknowns. However, one thing is for certain: Xiaomi’s move toward silicon independence is not a one-off experiment. The business is already getting ready for the next big step on the Xring road map.
