Poco has launched the F7 Ultra, stepping into a more advanced performance category with enhanced hardware and features. This model stands out from earlier F-series versions as this is the first in the lineup to use the latest generation of Qualcomm’s flagship chipset. It also boasts several upgrades designed to improve cooling, graphics performance, and imaging quality.
Design and Display
The Poco F7 Ultra boasts a 6.67-inch OLED screen that delivers a resolution of 1440 x 3200 pixels and features a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. It supports 12-bit color and can reach a peak brightness of 3,200 nits. For dimming, the display utilizes a 3,840 Hz PWM and can manage 16,000 brightness levels. Additionally, it offers a high touch sampling rate of up to 2,560Hz.
To protect the screen, Poco has implemented its own Poco Shield Glass, and the device is rated IP68 for resistance against water and dust. With a thickness of 8.4mm and a weight of 212g, it is available in black and yellow color variants.
Internals and Software
At the core of the device is the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, which outperforms the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in processing and graphics capabilities. It is complemented by the VisionBoost D7 chip, responsible for frame generation, resolution enhancement, and HDR support, all of which enhance gaming and compatible video applications.
The F7 Ultra is equipped with a cooling system featuring a 5,400mm² heat pipe to effectively manage temperatures during prolonged use, making it ideal for gaming. Other notable hardware features include an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, stereo speakers, NFC, an IR blaster, and dual-frequency GPS.
Cameras
On the rear, the phone has a triple-camera arrangement. The primary sensor is a 50MP unit with a 1/1.55” size and optical image stabilization. The telephoto lens also features a 50MP sensor, offering 2.5x optical zoom and up to 5x digital zoom, along with tele-macro capabilities. The ultra-wide camera is 32MP with a 120° field of view, and there’s a 32MP front camera for selfies.
Video recording capabilities include up to 8K at 24 fps and 4K at 60 fps.
Battery and Charging
Powering the Poco F7 Ultra is a 5,300 mAh battery, supported by the Surge G1 and Surge P3 chips. It features incredibly fast 120W wired charging, capable of fully charging the device in just 34 minutes, along with 50W wireless charging. The battery is designed to retain 80% of its capacity after 1,600 full charge cycles.
The phone is offered in two configurations: 12 GB RAM with 256 GB storage priced at $649, and 16 GB RAM with 512 GB storage.
