Xiaomi is set to introduce the Redmi A5 4G in Bangladesh, aligning its launch with the debut of the Redmi Note 14 series on Thursday, the 20th. In anticipation of its release, the Redmi A5 has started showing up in stores, providing a sneak peek into all its features and specifications.
Design and Display
The Redmi A5 4G boasts a 6.88-inch screen that offers a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, probably using a 720p+ LCD, though this has not been officially verified yet. In terms of aesthetics, the Redmi A5 showcases a typical budget smartphone design, complete with noticeable bezels and a curved notch.
Moreover, it includes a side-mounted fingerprint sensor integrated into the power button. You can expect the phone to come in a variety of colors, including Black, Blue, Green, and Silver, as illustrated below.
Internals and Software
Although not officially verified, there are speculations that the Redmi A5 is equipped with the Unisoc T7250 chipset. This processor, which only supports 4G, features two Cortex-A75 cores running at up to 1.8GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores at 1.6GHz, paired with a Mali-G57 GPU operating at 850MHz. This setup is similar to the Helio G81 Ultra found in the A3 Pro, but it is anticipated to be less powerful than the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 used in the A4, which also offers 5G connectivity.
Cameras
The Redmi A5’s rear camera has been updated to a 32MP sensor, a reduction from the 50MP sensor seen in previous models. There are indications of AI capabilities, though specific information is still lacking. The secondary camera is likely a low-resolution depth sensor or merely a decorative element to create the appearance of a dual-camera system.
Battery and Pricing
This device comes with a 5,200 mAh battery, consistent with the A3 Pro and A4 models. It is said to support 18W charging, but a 15W adapter is included in the package.
The starting price for the base model is around $90, which is in line with the non-Pro version of the Redmi A3. Additionally, there are whispers that the hardware of the Redmi A5 might be released as the “Poco C71” in select markets.
